My little Sunday adventure

Sometimes I like taking a tour to downtown. The sight. The smell. The little adventures. The big surprises.

The weather wasn’t compromising at all, with continuous beads of sweat popping up, and hair flying aimlessly. But the yummy hawker food somehow makes the scotching heat seems forgiving. From the sugary soya bean curd, peanut coated 'mua ji' to generous serving of wanton noodle.

Bringing a company who is a good sport is pleasant and enjoyable - Angie. Taking a walk to gallery and catching up a play are like a cherry on top of an icing. Fun. Fun. More fun.

The Light Show back at Annexe Gallery showcased wonderful and brilliants light sculptures made from recycled and found materials. Vary sizes and designs can be found, each unique and fascinating enough to look at. Discarded items like yogurts bottles, milk cartons, food tins and plastic bags were transformed into a work of creative, innovative, and interactive art. Personally, I heart the details. The fine line. The sharp edge. The curvy outline. And, I love the old school imported 7-up bottles. Very much. Simply classic.

Here are some lovely shots. From top, bottom, left, right.

Stage therapy depicted a collection of 8 short plays.
A family of bank robbers as they deal with bombs, hippies, and an angry post-woman.
The beauty of a stranger’s smile on LRT.
The nature of time to a lonely man.
A bitter trip down memory lane with two young men on the path of self destruction.
The life of a woman who stuck in a love triangle of her own making.
Faces of an apathetic city through the eyes of a jaded private investigator.
Woman of questionable intentions, just as her own reflection judges her.
Immersed in the surreal romance of two lovers caught in a dance that loops through illusion, faith and vulnerability.

It was definitely a low budget or probably, zero budget play. Some plots were just underdeveloped, raw, and all over the place. But still, some elements of substance were there, along with a few hidden and concealed messages. One thing that I adored was how they played with the different techniques in projecting the 8 plays- the well mixed of dialogue, monologue and soliloquy.

This is definitely a good groundwork for the upcoming and passion driven actors, actresses, producers, directors and art lovers. And the good news is, it allows room for us to experiment with our creative juices, exercise our imaginations, as play is about one’s interpretation and understanding.

Now go, do the things that you don’t normally do. And, do the things that you used to love to do - but don’t have the time for it. It’s rejuvenating. It’s refreshing :)
