Inspired by the forbidden pleasure of touching the art, artist-architect Simon Keogh has created a series of painting constructions that invite interaction and interpretation. Whether in creating paintings or buildings, Simon encourages us to experience art beyond the merely visual by tickling our natural curiosity toward spaces and textures. Fifteen years ago, Simon began his architectural practice in Malaysia, designing the critically-acclaimed Bank Negara Recovery Centre in Shah Alam, before settling in his hometown Dublin to do urban-planning. Simon returns here for a year to fulfill his dreams of making art out of steel, wood, duct tape, lingerie and other materials from his neighbourhood hardware store.
WORKSHOP: Simon will facilitate two workshops designed to explore unorthodox art materials. Limited to 8 persons per workshop. Persons under 15 will require adult supervision; not suitable for years 8 and under. Contact Simon at simon@urban-asylum.com
