a fruitful week!

last week was one busy and hectic week. I have so many stories that needed to share with you guys, but seriously, I have no idea where I should I start or how should I start. It was an overwhelming week for me.

I have two weeks spring break ( yeah!) while other schools have only a week. Dont ask me why coz i have no idea either. I know why, coz my school is the "lala land", hahaha!!! this is the malaysian way of calling my school!! ok, ok.. i better get my stories straight!

So i was busy ( sort of) working on my research paper on emo for my subculture class with MLA guidelines, haha. Yes, MLA... I got this right this time! And I was wokring on my Florida presentation as well. It was a chaos coz we need to work this as a group and Rustam was kind of annoyed by us but in end, I'm the one who step out and put everything together with the help of Jill, Randa, and Risma! Thank you so much, ladies!

Of coz its not all work and no play. I went up to Oregon Coast with Lana& Lee ( my liason), Miku from Japan ( she's not an exchange student, she came here for visiting) and Parviz who is an exchange student from Uzbekitan but hosted in Indiana ( he's kind of cute though *blush*). We went to the Astoria for lunch. They have the best seafood ever! I had this Fish and Chips, ok..it mayb seems like those typical weatern foodwe have in Malaysia, but the type of fish they used is totally different from malaysia!! I got to see the Columbia river, and of coz the Columbia bridge. We dropped by at the jetty too so we managed to see all the sealions lining up in straight line as if they are sun bathing!! Aww, it's so cute!! We went up to Lewis and Clark State Park and study a lil bit history on Oregon Trail and blah blah blah.. *drum rolls pls* Here comes the highlight of the whole trip!! We went up to Pacific Ocean!!! Man, it was one breathe taking view ever!!! It was so fascinating!! It was so beautiful! It was huge!! I'm speechless... I guess no text needed XD and then we went down to a town named seaside. It was this neat and small town. After that, we stopped by at Dairy Queen on our way back. Having an ice cream and a banana split is such an indulgance at times! I will post up the pics later coz i believe a good picture speaks a thousand (probably more) words.

So here comes the easter celebration. I have my first easter basket from my host parents, and I actually need to hunt for the basket. I painted my very own easter egg as well and it
was a multi color one. I still have with me now.. but I guess I need to throw it at anytime soon. Hey, I don't want a rotten egg! Bonnie got me a make up kit. She got it from buying some make up stuffs. Dont mess with her coz she's a make up maniac!!! Once she spent oevr 300dollar on make up alone!! Anyway, it is my very first one after 18 years in this planet earth (how pathetic!) Finally I dont not to need to share with my sis again!! Moreover, it's Lancome!!! So what I need to do is learn the proper way in applying make up *wink*

1st of april is one historical event for me, haha. Yes, it was the april fool's day and no, i did not get fooled by anyone. It was a day where I gave my presentation about Malaysia to a group of devoted Christians in Milwaukie Presbyterian Church. I tell ya, it was one nerve wrecking moment for me. It is so much more challenging to present to a whole bunch of religious people than a group of hormone raging teenagers. They keep throwing out questions like, " why your country is so peaceful, and not the middle east?", " what ur country think about the war?", " how is the healthcare in your country?", " Dont you feel bother that The Muslims think Jesus is a prophet, and not a savior?" I was sad to see the Americans to be so ignorant when it comes to religions, cultures or even languages. I heard people in Oklahama are even worst and Oregonians are consider kind of open minded! Of coz I did a great job in answering all the questions. I was like the, " the education is the key....blah, blah..blah"..and just telling them on what I know. Bonnie is so proud of me and she gave me a hug by the end of the presentation. Erm, I did represent Malaysia well, and at the same I'm NOT offending any Americans. Great job, Siyan! * Give myself a pat on my shoulder*

So yesterday I went to PGE diversity summit in Portland Convention Center. I skipped school by the way, haha. Of coz my school and host parents are cool with it! Anyway, I was there to help out at the AFS booth, you know, those typical sitting on the booth and doing anything but socialising and networking. But of coz I take this opportunity to learn more new stuffs. I met a PR director of Latin News. He was really interesting gentlman as he was so engrossed of Asian culture. He went to Philipine a few times, and right now he's writing a book and doing some documenteries on Philipine. I went a lady who's from Reed College. She and her husband are lecturer for culture studies and they are planning to give lecturer on a ship where students get to travel around the world within 4 months i guess. Yup, it was so cool! And of course, I got to meet Amy Tan!!!! I was excited about it. This is part of the reason why I skipped school. I dont get to see her everyday!! I have my book autographed and a picture taken with her!!! Yipee!! In case you guys do not know abt Amy Tan, well.. she's an author and she writes The Joy Luck Club, The Kitchen God's wife and many more. I heard there's a movie on The Joy Luck Club, maybe I should check it out soon.

So today Faisal is coming over, yeah!!! Im ( erm, is Bonnie and me to be exact) goin to pick him out from the train station. I really cant wait to meet him!!! So I'm goin to take him around and experience the real Portland stuffs!! Hahaha XD How I wish I can drive so I can take him up to the mountain or even to the Ocean...aww, I want to have wedding there!! My place is really strategic coz it only takes me 1 hr 30min drive to the Ocean, 1 hr drive to the mountain where I can ski and snowboard, and 15mins to downtown. The public transport here are excellent : the bus comes every 15 mins, the light rail is like 15mins walk from my house. It just too good to be true!!

I figure there are not much time left... (erm, I sound like Im goin to die or something like). 3 more months left!!! So Im goin to spend every single day as if its the very last day for me!
